  1. AI & MCP (Beta)

Authentication and permissions

🧪
Beta. The Leadfeeder MCP Server is in beta. Setup steps and the available tools may change.
The MCP Server uses your own Leadfeeder account to authenticate. When you connect from an AI tool, you sign in to Leadfeeder through a secure OAuth flow and approve access. The AI tool never sees your password, and you do not paste an API key into it.
This is different from the Leadfeeder REST API, which authenticates with an API key. The MCP Server handles sign-in for you.

What you are granting#

When you approve access, the AI tool can call Leadfeeder tools on your behalf, limited to what your account can already do. That includes reading data and, for some tools, writing data such as lists, tags, and custom fields. Actions that change data ask you to confirm before they run.

Choosing an account#

If you have access to more than one Leadfeeder account, you choose which account to use during sign-in.

Permissions and credits#

Access through the MCP Server follows the same permissions and credit rules as your account. The server cannot do anything your account cannot, and credit-consuming tools draw on the same credit balance as the API.
There is one access right you need before you can connect. Your user must have the "Manage API keys and use API" access right for the "Integrations" product. This is the same access right that controls API key generation and API use on the REST API. Without it, sign-in will not complete and you will not be able to call any Leadfeeder tools from your AI tool.
INFO
If connect does not complete, you are likely missing the "Manage API keys and use API" access right for the "Integrations" product. Ask your admin to grant it, then connect again.

Disconnecting#

You can disconnect at any time from your AI tool's connector settings, or revoke access in your Leadfeeder account settings.
NOTE
When you add the connector, the AI tool connects to Leadfeeder from the AI provider's cloud, not from your own computer. The server is reachable on the public internet, so this works by default. A private or VPN-only endpoint would not connect.
